- Project: Footpath Design For Jim Donald Parklands
- Value: $600,000
- Client: Ipswich City Council

- Duration: 6 Months
- Team: Luke Hart
Whilst delivering work via a secondment to Ipswich City Council, one of our Principal Designers, Luke Hart was tasked with designing a footpath for Jim Donald Parklands.
The aim of the project was to deliver a footpath that connected the sporting facilities at Jim Donald Parklands to existing pedestrian infrastructure.
An added complexity with this project was the addition of a bridge crossing over an existing drainage channel. As this channel directs major stormwater flow, significant time and consideration was taken to develop a suitable crossing location.
To continue effective stormwater management principles, a bridge rather than culverts were incorporated into the design.
Constructed in 2023, pedestrians can now safely walk through Jim Donald Parklands, making it more accessible to all.
For generations, Ipswich has been a significant driver of Queensland’s economic prosperity. Ipswich is attracting unprecedented population growth accelerated by some of the largest master planned greenfield residential developments in the Southern Hemisphere.
Rarely has an Australian city with such strong heritage and history experienced a social and economic evolution as rapid or profound as this. It is redefining the way the region operated, how the community is connected and how the city is positioned nationally.
Council has an active role in influencing positive economic and workforce outcomes amid this extraordinary progress.
